DISPARADE FAMILIES
featuring Cora Frost (Peter), Lea Martini, Katharina Bromka & Enis Turan.
"I was quite content to be uprooted because I feared the influence of roots on me (...). I found myself in a pleasant bath because I could swim calmly, whereas you cannot swim calmly when there are too many roots. Do you understand?" — Marcel Duchamp
With their new piece, DISPARADE FAMILIES, Josep Caballero García & Team venture into the space where perhaps most attributions and imprints take place: the family system. This choreographic concert by the choreographer, who has been producing at Kampnagel for over 12 years, narrates, sings, and dances through alternative concepts, asserting community and bonding practices that deviate from the norm.
DISPARADE FAMILIES is a tribute to the self-chosen separation from patriarchal family experiences: it invites a joyful celebration of breaks and sings and dances the replanting of rooted traditions. It welcomes the spirits of Voguing from 1970s Harlem, as well as Romeo and Juliet, who have since found new families, and sings for those who are leaving and for those who are just arriving.
